Thank you to MAF!
Grow is very proud to be associated with and supported by the Mental Awareness Foundation (MAF).
Wesley and Tudor, the founders of MAF, exhibit a passionate and deeply personal commitment to creating awareness around maintaining good mental health. They understand the emotional pain and turmoil caused by the loss of friends and used their experiences to raise awareness so that people can get the help they need, when they need it, so other young lives are not cut short.
They are ambitious and determined! I remember going to the first Walk for Awareness over five years ago, where a small number of friends, family and supporters walked together to raise awareness about mental illness and suicide prevention. Since then, the Walk has grown considerably each year, an amazing testament to their tenacious efforts!
MAF have helped to create some wonderful health promotion and education tools, including a pocket sized guide that provides direction on how to support a person who is expressing suicidal thoughts including signs to look out for. In addition, they have also produced some fantastic videos and media to be shared among their growing fans and supporters on social media.
And that’s not all! They assisted in campaigning to have safety barriers put up on the Story Bridge in Brisbane and while it took some time to get it completed, they are now up and saving lives.
Grow, a registered non-for-profit, has been part of the Queensland community for nearly forty years, providing a valuable service focused on peer support and mutual help to people with a mental health condition. We happily and proudly support this wonderful, affirming Foundation and very much appreciate the support MAF provides.
Wesley, Tudor and their Foundation’s supporters have turned personal tragedy into a powerful way to raise awareness about mental health and suicide, so that other young lives will not be needlessly lost.
